It's
hardly been 12 hours since the event, but the fact that Apple has launched the
iPhone 5 amongst other all annoucements, is old news now. (too bad for print
news publications!) The iPhone 5 is thinner, faster, bigger, lighter and in
the words of Phil Schiller, Senior VP at Apple, it is the most beautiful
product they have ever made.
Yet the drama around the launch has created heightened conversations
about the launch (and event) not being that dramatic, impactful and surprising.
Part of this is due to the fact that most of the announcements were rightfully
predicted and several leaks were the root cause for that. Another part that's
giving rise to such conversations is the fact that they didn't launch a
completely new product (an iPad Mini or a TV or anything like that) and
lot of the announcements were part of the new OS that were already known.
So the main questions then is, would the iPhone 5 set the cash registers ablaze for Apple, akin to their predecessors? After all that's going to impact the stock prices, that raised minimally post the announcement.
My opinion – Yes; it definitely will.
- One, because Apple is Apple! In today's date Apple has earned itself a
reputation so tall that's going to take atleast a few years for it to fall (that
is, if it does fall!) As soon as Apple fans are going to put their hands on
this device, the undeniable beauty will again charm users and set in motion
that wow ripple.
- And two - Just because Apple hasn't ventured into another product category
or not launched something totally exclusive, doesn't make the iPhone 5 a less
awesome product. iPhone 5 is the
thinnest and lightest iPhone ever, completely redesigned to feature a stunning
new 4-inch Retina display; an Apple-designed A6 chip for blazing fast
performance; and ultrafast wireless technology — all while delivering even
better battery life. iPhone 5 comes with iOS 6, the world’s most advanced
mobile operating system with over 200 new features including: the all new Maps
app with Apple-designed cartography and turn-by-turn navigation; Facebook
integration; Passbook organization; and even more Siri features and languages.
