Why hiring a good event photographer makes great PR sense

Any marketing person would know the mammoth number of events that take place during the year. These maybe customer events, media events, industry association events, brand promotion/ activation events and so on. Each one of these formal engagements has an organized calendar containing a step by step activity that would lead up to the event completion; yet one of the last things on everyone's mind and everyone's checklist is often the event photographer.

In a way, hiring an event photographer could be one of the last things to do because it is easy to organize one. But what the photographer accomplishes at the event is thoroughly overlooked. HE'S ACTUALLY A PERSON CREATING CONTENT THERE

Like a journalist, the story communicated via his/ her pictures would completely depend on how observant and creative the person is. The content created him/ her could be leveraged in multiple ways by the brand. Few are mentioned below:

1. Pictures could be uploaded on Facebook & twitter
2. On Facebook, the pictures could be tagged with the attendees
3. Tagging the pictures could increase chances of the attendees in turn 'like' the brand page
4. Interesting pictures could get a lot of comments and be used by others as well
5. A contest could be run around the pictures
6. The pictures can serve as a tool for attracting crowds for the next event [if it is a series of events being organized]
7. There are some events where there is a separate wall/ area where a photographer clicks cool pictures of the attendees

These are just some ideas on my mind, but the lesson is that hiring a good modern day photographer makes good PR sense, because of the conversations it creates. And please note, i mention modern day photographers; and not the traditional ones who just click archaic 1990 marriage type pictures!
