Timescity app on Android [Review]

Timescity, the popular lifestyle portal of Times Internet, has over the years been a good source of information for events, movies, finding bars and clubs and so on. Now they’ve tried to deliver this experience via the mobile, via an all new mobile app. It’s an absolutely logical decision and would be very useful to today’s mobile generation.

What’s good:
*In terms of the layout, content and tabs in the app are well spaced out and give users adequate space to touch on the respective tabs and even sift through each of them in a glance

*Just like the website, performance of the app is spot on. No time lags what-so-ever, location search worked well showing up accurate results. Speed of when the results appeared is also very good
*Search also works very well, throwing up a good quantity of search results

What could’ve been better:
*The app icon could have been designed better. I understand ‘tc’ maybe their logo, but with the umpteen interpretations of this abbreviation (Turquoise Cottage, terms & conditions etc.), I think they owed themselves a better icon

*On the opening screen too, the display picture could have been far more attractive. The current picture with faded lights is too dull. It’s not very welcoming. If I compare this to the opening screen of a Zomato or a Wooplr, their opening picture/ display is attractive. Zomato in fact changes the opening pic of their app from time to time and each visit gives you an even more sumptuous looking picture to salivate

*The entire app could have been designed in an app-ish manner, rather than the website-ish manner it currently is in. For example, ‘search’, ‘explore’, ‘restaurants’, ‘bars & clubs’, ‘events’ and ‘movies’ could all have been displayed as widgets inside the app. This helps in simplifying the user experience

Conclusion
*With mobile internet becoming a rage in urban lifestyle, Timescity has made a good move to come up with an app that could help people plan their outing on-the-go
*Timescity is a must have app for outgoing people, who’re continuously planning the next party to crash, the next event they could go to and the next food tasting they could do at a restaurant/ lounge
*The app’s performance is seamless, which makes it a must have on your smartphone
