Global Tech Addiction Is Going To Benefit Medical Practitioners of tomorrow

Today, we are addicted to our mobile phones and computers. Today, we get restless if we’re away from our gadgets for a while. Today, we are made to cling on to our Blackberry’s in the name of Enterprise collaboration and for making remote workplaces a success. Today, in India there are more mobile phones than there are toilets. Today, there’s a huge amount of focus on tech, even from non-tech industries, like there was never before. Today, people watch movies and create documents in a lying down posture while on their beds. Today, people tweet and share almost everything of themselves on social networks. This today, is going to benefit the doctors of tomorrow immensely.

We all stand witness to an age which has revolutionized the way we consume media, the way we like to entertain ourselves, the way we do business, the way we interact socially and there’s no doubt in my mind that sooner than later we’re going to start realizing the consequences of our actions. This tech addiction is definitely true and a simple test could help you understand if you’re tech addicted. How would you feel if did not have you mobile phone with you for just 1 day? Or how would you feel if you didn’t visit Facebook or tweet for just 1 day? Both these questions will help you realize that the addiction is true and gradually seeping in.

But what this also means is; medical practitioners are in for a treat. There’s a whole new disease they get to cure. Continuous computer/ tablet/ smartphone viewing and creating documents and viewing movies on laptops in a bad posture is going to give increased customers to ophthalmologists, eye surgeons and opticians. It’s also going to give rise to a lot of back aches which will have to be treated. Rehab centers and Psychotherapists could have a new kind of addiction to cure – tech addiction. Physicians will have more patients asking for remedies for their fingers that have been used excessively on their ‘screen of choice’. From having teachers who teach students to use video conferencing and its amazing utility, schools might have to keep councilors who educate students on the way they could interact and express their emotions with people better in person rather than online.

For all those who aren’t in agreement with my estimate of things, I would like to clarify that’s this isn’t a vision 2020 kind of a view, rather, it’s more of a 2040 kind of a prediction and this is just my perspective and I’d like to have your opinions on this post as well.
