Being an
active user of WhatsApp, there are some features that I think if added, would enhance
the user experience. Enclosed below is the list of the same.
(1) Important/ Must Read
The utility of instant messaging can
sure not be questioned; however the efficacy does get submerged when you have a
peer group that constantly pings you. This sometimes gets bothersome and an
individual could easily neglect the chat or group. In such cases, a
feature of 'important' or 'must read' would be crucial to tell the recipient
that the message is urgent and calls for immediate action.
(2) 'Like'
Call it the Facebook effect, but the
'Like' feature sure has a good use. It is based on normal human behavior that
not all messages warrant a reply. 'Like' could come in extremely handy in such
circumstances and will also expedite a lot of chats that happen in
groups or on 1x1 chats.
(3) Scheduling messages
The ability to schedule messages on WhatsApp
would really make it very intuitive. It could be a crucial differentiator
between other IM products too and it comes in extremely handy in time bound
conversations. Wishing someone a birthday at the strike of 12 could be a
perfect example of the convenience it could offer.
(4) Tagging
Very often in group chats what happens
is, the volume and frequency of conversations may be such that members of the
group may miss out on certain messages that may have been directed towards
them. To ability to tag individuals in group chats would come in handy here, so
there aren’t any misses.
(5) Sleep
Another challenge in group chats is
that occasionally, some members of the group may be in certain situations or
circumstances, where the constant beeping gets irritating for them. A feature
such as ‘sleep’ could come in handy there. It could be a subtle way of keeping
all the beeping at bay, as well as avoid being rude and leaving the group.

ReplyDeleteWhatsApp should show my online only to that particular person with whom I'm chatting or reading his/her chat msgs and to rest of them it should show offline or last seen, I think this feature would be great. Hope this changes will come soon

I dont get why these perfect suggestions aren't seriously considered by the WhatsApp developers. Dont they read any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteThis is obviously that they dont care about it. Thinking about what you write would instantly give them that the ideas are very good, without possible bad effects/cons. Then why dont they start working on the integration of this stuff?
Are they deaf?
What if you called a developer of them and offer the ideas, would they say?
Is there any motivation to add stuff in updates like that? Or doesnt it bring them ''extra'' money from that sole thing?
App creators, also companies like WhatsApp, want their quality and reputation very good. You cannot tell me they dont have dedicated developers who can do all this in a short timespace. But they aren't to be heard of it.
Seems they dont care about innovative, convenience features like all these.
