The State of Social Media _ 2012 Global report by comScore

I came across a 2012 report on the state of social media by comScore and it was too brilliant for me not to share with as many people as possible; hence posting it in my blog. Some highlights are enclosed below:

·         More than half of local online populations engage in social networking
·         Nearly 1 in 5 minutes online is spent on social networks today
·         One - third of the world's social networkers are in Asia Pacific
·         Yet 5 of the most engaged markets for social networking are in Latin America
·         social media sites draw more UK visitors than retail, email, and news sites
·         Google+ surged to 25 million visitors in less than a month - faster than any other social network
·         Across all regions, women are more social
·         Males and 55+ age group represent the fastest growing segment in social networking
·         women spend more time than men on social, but the gender gap is narrowing with younger dynamics
·         15 - 24 years olds saw the largest decline in engagement with web based email and instant messaging
·         there are only 7 markets today where Facebook is not the leading social network
·         75% of ads will be socially enabled by 2015

And here goes the report.
