I’ve had a magical last week. Within a span of 5days, I’ve had the honor of being in the presence of 2 of the most successful, brilliant and richest businessmen ever – Michael Dell and Warren Buffett. Put together, they both have a personal wealth capacity of more than USD $60billion! 
Both of them have amazing life stories. Just looking at them move, emote, express, talk about their lives, business, future possibilities, observations, innovations and experiences, I couldn’t help but wonder – why do these people still keep doing business? Both of them have amassed enough wealth to keep their great grand children in luxury, then why work? What’s the enthusiasm about? What more could they want? Michael Dell has gone on record to say that’s he’s as excited about Dell now, than when he started the business. He’s particularly excited about mobility and that explains the company’s recent foray into the mobility segment. At 80, Warren Buffett also has said that he would like to continue to do what he does now, even if he may be bed-ridden some day.
After hearing them both, enlisted below are 3 simple reasons why the richest businessmen continue to do business:
- They LOVE what they do
- They’re PASSIONATE about what they do
- They’re EXCITED by what they do
These are 3 very simple reasons i’ve mentioned, but from what they said, I heard and I interpreted, these are the only 3 reasons that keep them going. These also make for interesting parameters if people want to judge if they could make it big someday. Do you love what you do? Are you passionate about what you do? and are you excited about what to do? Of coarse, these are not the only 3 parameters for you to consider or in case you do fulfill these parameters doesn't assure you are indeed going to make it big - but then it sure is indicative of the possibility. They sure are many qualities that have helped them come this far – like Warren Buffett mentioned - you need to make opinions from facts and your understanding, and be comfortable with your decisions. If you’re not comfortable, you’re going to make noise/ plead foul when the world will be making noise or pleading foul.
