How Talentica used a flash mob to leave their 200th & 201st employees awestruck

Occurrence of a flash mob may no longer raise eyebrows, but the recent flash mob by Talentica sure proves that they are instrumental if used effectively. News about this flash mob is already a couple of weeks old, but I am very impressed with the company for pulling out such a stunt, which compels me to write about it.

For people who're still unaware about this, enclosed below is the flash mob in context that will put all doubts to rest.

The flash mob impresses most on the following counts:

(1) Employer branding
Talentica, to the best of my understanding, seems a small business based in Pune. They're not even totally consumer facing. With offerings such as enterprise and web apps, they would have most b2b customers. However, the company invested time in doing this activity which speaks a lot of about the company.

A lot of big companies struggle while trying to appear 'cool' and there are obvious lessons to be learned from Talentica, in that regard.

(2) Talent acquisition
Doing activities such as this flash mob is a great way of pulling more talent from this generation. Having all employees participate in the flash mob shows the happy culture within the company. Who knows, going further there could be PR driven articles from Talentica on the topic 'giving the Talentica welcome to new employees'!

(3) Corporate reputation
A lot of small and big companies are thinking of ways to leverage social media to enhance their corporate reputation. This sure is one innovative way to go about doing it. Organizing a flash mob for employee engagement and leveraging the visuals for social media is a very smart move. The Talentica video has over 23,000 hits to it. They've even gone further and published the making of the flash mob (which is again very smart to show the employees camaraderie during preparations).

I hope this small move from Talentica shows the way to many other small and large companies to think on their feet and be innovative while meeting several organizational objectives.
